I used to have a 700 watt microwave and when I cooked my pasta in this it always came out perfect. I got a new 1000 watt microwave recently and even after adjusting the power to 70% and trying numerous different times to cook in it, now my pasta no longer cooks properly. It always comes out gooey on the outside and hard in the middle now, or it comes out all goo if I try and cook it a little longer. I've tried everything. I figured this would be a fine way to cook pasta without using the stove. It sounded so nice to be able to set the microwave, walk away, and come back to cooked pasta.
While the pasta was cooked, it had a distinct plastic taste to it. Even though I followed the directions and washed it, used it in the microwave for 10 minutes with water in it, and then put it in the dishwasher, the smell and the taste did not go away.
