Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Sauces require special treatment to ensure peak flavor and texture. This open saucier pan has the rounded sloping sides that will ensure you are able to thoroughly incorporate ingredients, without having solids get stuck in the bend where side meets base. The new MC2 cookware combines the industrial style of a brushed aluminum exterior with gleaming stainless steel stay cool handles.

Amazon.com Review:
The second generation of All-Clad's Master Chef line (MC2), this cookware combines brushed aluminum with stainless-steel accents for a contemporary look. Like All-Clad's other renowned cookware collections, Master Chef provides serious and professional cooks with all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Key to its high performance is a three-ply, bonded construction. Sandwiched between the brushed aluminum exterior and an 18/10 stainless-steel interior lies a thick core of pure aluminum that spreads heat evenly across the bottoms of pots and pans and all the way up the sides. The interior is highly polished so it's stick- as well as corrosion-resistant. Handles, rivets, and tight-fitting lids are all gleaming stainless steel.

This versatile 1-quart saucier pan has rounded sides, which increase the amount of food it can hold relative to the diameter of its bottom. Because the aluminum core extends up the sides, foods cook uniformly, even though the pan is 2-1/4 inches deep. And because the interior is nonreactive, tomato-based sauces and other acidic foods won't taste metallic. Its polished 18/10 stainless-steel handle is riveted to the pan for strength, grooved on the top and rounded on the bottom for comfort, and holed in the end for hanging on a hook or peg. The long handle stays cool on the stovetop but won't be harmed by an oven's heat. Master Chef cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects and should be hand washed. --Fred Brack

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - High performance pan for risottos, roux, and sauces.
The gently sloped sides of All Clad's 2-Quart Saucier exactly match the curve of All Clad's stainless balloon whisk (and many other balloon whisks for that matter). This gentle curve, combined with the very smooth tough stainless steel interior make this a great surface for frequent stirring. All Clad's incredible heat transmissive properties allow you to deftly adjust temperature - a must for delicate sauces, roux, and risotto. Of course this pan can be used as a general purpose sauce pan as ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Pro looks-amateur finish
having an assortment of All-Clad pieces, I couldn't pass up the rare All-Clad MC2 sale.

Like the rest of the line, the MC2 has a stainless steel interior. The difference is in the brushed aluminum exterior. That's where the problem lies. Apparently this finish is a tad more porous than the LTD line. I keep getting 'stains' that require the Barkeeper's Friend. No big deal-but for a pan of this price, easy maintenence should be mandatory.

Wait for the LTD sale instead.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Heats very evenly, but has a few design flaws
This little pan heats uniformly. I use it for making oatmeal, reheating meals since I don't have a microwave, toasting seeds, and making sauces. It cleans up beautifully just with soap and water. I did accidentally put it through the microwave once, however (not recommended by the manufacturer), and the pretty finish is now somewhat dulled.

On the negative side, for reheating I find a lid helpful, but since this pan didn't come with a lid I use one from a different pan. This pan also ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Great Small Pan, but Very Unbalanced-- Tips easily
We've been very happy with this pan except for one problem:
I don't know if the handle is too long and heavy or the base is too small, but this pan has trouble balancing and tips over fairly easily.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Angle of handle is all WRONG on this pot . . .
For some reason, AllClad set the angle of the handle much shallower than on their other pots and pans--the angle is similar to a fry pan. When you lift the pan off the stove, the rim of the pan does not remain level. This is especially annoying if you are working with this pan alongside several pots. A minor detail perhaps. Otherwise, an excellent pan, great for cooking rice and reducing sauces.
